There is a sense of anger in the Football Transfer Tavern from Chelsea fans today as The Sunday People report that Juventus and Atletico Madrid are preparing January loan moves for Juan Mata,
According to suggestions, the Spanish international has become increasingly frustrated with his reduced role at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho and is now worried about his World Cup chances with Spain.
New Blues manager Jose Mourinho reportedly has his doubts about Mata’s effectivity in his current team, and he may be thinking about letting the Spaniard leave in the winter window.
Atletico saw main striker Radamel Falcao depart in the summer for £50 million and despite landing Barcelona’s David Villa, Mata is viewed as the creative player Diego Simeone’s side needs, while Juve are looking for more inventiveness in their side.
The former Valencia man joined the Blues in 2011 for £24 million and has been a shining light in his two seasons at the Bridge.
But given his recent lack of game time under Mourinho, Mata may seek a move away as he looks to put himself in Spain’s team for the upcoming World Cup in Brazil.
Mourinho has recently questioned the 25-year-old’s defensive work-rate and the paper understands that he remains unconvinced by the Spaniard, who was on the bench yesterday against West Ham. Instead the Portuguese boss has preferred to use Oscar as his No.10, sparking interest in the classy playmaker from Spain and Italy.
