In our Loan Watch feature series, the Football Transfer Tavern takes a look at how a selection of players from a particular club are faring whilst they are away from their parent side, and provide a brief update regarding their form.
Inter Milan’s Dalbert and Joao Mario secured wins against big opposition with Fiorentina and Lokomotiv Moscow respectively, while Radja Nainggolan made his return from injury for Cagliari.
Dalbert – Fiorentina
This one will be highly satisfying for many Inter fans, as Dalbert played the full 90 minutes to help Fiorentina beat AC Milan 3-1, putting more pressure on Marco Giampaolo.
The 26-year-old was a good defensive presence in the game, as he completed both of the tackles he attempted, while also managing 3 clearances, as per WhoScored.
Dalbert was also effective on the ball, making two key passes and completing 84% of the passes he attempted.
Radja Nainggolan – Cagliari
Nainggolan came on for the final 22 minutes of Cagliari’s 1-1 draw against Hellas Verona to make his return from injury, having missed the last three league games due to a calf problem, as per Transfermarkt.
The Belgium international didn’t have the greatest impact on the game, attempting 12 passes, of which he completed 10, taking one shot that went wide, while he did make one key pass, as per WhoScored.
This result has put Cagliari seventh in the Serie A table with 10 points from six games.
Joao Mario – Lokomotiv Moscow
Mario was named Man of the Match by WhoScored, with a rating of 7.9, as Lokomotiv Moscow beat Zenit St. Petersburg 1-0.
The Portugal international made two key passes, as well as completing four of the five tackles that he attempted during the 90 minutes, in addition to winning four aerial duels.
This result puts Lokomotiv second in the league, though they are still level on points with Zenit, who now sit fifth.
This may not be the most spectacular of loan watches for what the individuals produced, but it will be significant for the players and the teams they are representing.
It will be especially interesting to see how Nainggolan does now he is back from injury, while Mario and his Lokomotiv side could have a very intriguing battle on their hands this season.
