In our Loan Watch feature series, the Football Transfer Tavern takes a look at how a selection of players from a particular club are faring whilst they are away from their parent side, and provide a brief update regarding their form.
Here are reports on a trio of Internazionale players currently on loan, with three goals, an assist and a heavy derby day defeat being included.
Yann Karamoh – Parma
Yann Karamoh had a fairly innocuous start to the season and had been confined to the bench for Parma’s four games prior to their match against Inter, as per Transfermarkt.
However, he took his opportunity to impress both his parent and loan club when he was brought in to face Inter, as he scored a brilliant solo goal and then assisted Gervinho to limit Inter’s reward from the game to a draw, as shown in the highlights video on the Serie A YouTube channel.
Mauro Icardi – Paris Saint Germain
Paris Saint Germain were very convincing in their 4-0 win against Marseille, getting all of their goals in the first half and it was Mauro Icardi who got the first two.
The opener came when he pounced on the rebound from his own header from an Angel di Maria cross, while he followed that up by getting on the end of Marco Verratti’s dinked ball and heading it in, as shown in the highlights video on the BT Sport YouTube channel.
This takes the Argentinian’s tally across the Champions League and Ligue 1 to seven goals from six starts and one substitute appearance, as per WhoScored.
Joao Mario – Lokomotiv Moscow
Joao Mario was on the receiving end of a big derby day defeat, as Lokomotiv Moscow lost 3-0 against Spartak Moscow, following three second half goals.
This comes despite Lokomotiv taking 7 more shots than their city rivals, while Mario had 3 shots, made 4 key passes and also completed 86% of the passes he attempted, which gives an indication that his performance wasn’t worthy of such a harsh result.
All three players gave a fairly good account of themselves, even if the performances and results will be perceived very differently both within and outside of Inter.
Karamoh’s contribution definitely feels the most significant, especially with it coming against his parent club.
Inter fans, can any of these players come back and make an impact for the club? Join the discussion by commenting below…
