It was important for Internazionale that they got back to winning ways against Brescia, having drawn against Parma on the weekend.
Once again, Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez came through with the goals for Antonio Conte’s side, but Diego Godin’s performance was also integral to Inter securing the three points.
The 33-year-old was indomitable at the back for the Nerazzurri as they managed to hold on for the 2-1 win following Milan Skriniar’s own goal.
Defensively, the Uruguay international made 5 clearances and 3 interceptions, while also winning 5 of his 6 aerial duels throughout the game, as per WhoScored.
In addition to this, he showed conviction with his tackling, as the only one he made came while he was the last man for Inter.
The former Atletico Madrid defender was also efficient with the ball at his feet, completing 88% of the passes that he attempted during his 90 minutes on the pitch.
Having kept clean sheets in four of their first five league games, Inter have now gone without one in their last five, as per Transfermarkt, which will likely be a source of great frustration for Conte, as was evident after the Sassuolo win.
However, it would be harsh to attach any blame to Godin for this drop in defensive solidity, as highlighted by his performance on Tuesday.
Who will score more goals this season, Romelu Lukaku or Mauro Icardi?
