Romelu Lukaku’s goals made the difference for Internazionale once again, as his brace earned a 2-1 win over Bologna.
However, he wasn’t the only player who put in a significant performance, as Nicolo Barella gave a superbly well-rounded showing in midfield for Antonio Conte’s side.
The Italy international made a telling impact in both the attacking and defensive phases for his team, as can be identified by his statistics from the game.
Defensively, he made 2 successful tackles, 3 clearances and 2 interceptions, as per WhoScored, offering plenty of protection for the backline that was only beaten by a long-range effort from Roberto Soriano, as shown in the highlights video on the Serie A YouTube channel.
He may only be 175cm tall, but Barella managed to win 3 aerial duels, coming out on top in half of those he contested.
The 22-year-old also made an impact with the ball at his feet, completing 3 dribbles and 2 key passes, though he could have improved on the 75% pass completion rate he had during the game.
He also saw quite a lot of the ball, a sign of his influence, keeping 5.9% of the game’s overall possession, with Marcelo Brozovic and Alessandro Bastoni the only Inter players to have more.
This result has kept Inter within one point of Juventus and Barella deserves credit for the part he played in ensuring that happened.
