Leeds United fans are still drowning their sorrows in the Football Transfer Tavern following the sale of star striker Ross McCormack to Fulham last week.
But sources at The Express believe the club could be about to go about further replacing the Scotland striker’s goals with a swoop for a talented young frontman from AC Milan.
Nineteen-year-old forward Andrea Petagna has been linked with a loan move to Elland Road, having only managed five first team appearances for the Rossoneri last season.
Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino has already brought in three players from Italy this summer – Marco Silvestri, Tommaso Bianchi and Souleymane Doukara – and the agent of Petagna has revealed his client could well be the fourth.
Dave Hockaday’s Peacocks have also brought in former Arsenal and Manchester City goalkeeper Stuart Taylor this summer.
“Andrea will leave AC Milan on loan to gain experience,” said agent Giusseppe Riso.
“There are a few Serie B’s teams interested in him, like Crotone, Latina and Perugia while in Serie A Cesena like him.
“But it is not said that Petagna remains in Italy. I know that (Massimo) Cellino’s Leeds like him too, we’ll see what AC Milan decide to do.”
