Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey could miss out on international duty with Wales due to an injury risk.
The Daily Mirror via Calciomercato report that the 28-year-old suffered from fatigue in the warm-up before his side’s match versus Inter Milan at the San Siro.
The Welshman will still return to his homeland to be considered for the matches, however, he will be assessed at the national team’s headquarters over the next few days to see if he is capable of playing.
It might not be what Wales fans want to hear, but Juventus will want their new midfielder to be able to recover properly rather than jump back into action with Wales.
So far, he has shown he can be a really important player for the side this year. In the three games he has played, he has managed to score one goal and averages 1.7 shots per game – the most in the squad for a central midfielder and the third-most in the squad, even more than Gonzalo Higuain averages, according to WhoScored. Additionally, he also averages 1.3 key passes per match, more than any other central midfielder, all-in-all proving that he has a lot to offer this Juventus side in terms of goals and creativity.
Given his history with injuries, Juventus will want to make sure that he recovers properly so that they can get the most out of him. Transfermarkt says he has faced 13 separate injuries since the beginning of the 14/15 season, so it would be really frustrating for the club if he picks up another while representing his country.
Even though Wales have some huge matches coming up in their Euro 2020 qualification campaign, Ramsey and Juventus may well want to be cautious in playing if he is not fully fit, as he will be eager to get some more game time at Juve under his belt.
With Wales fourth in their group and four games to go, their matches versus Slovakia and Croatia could be vital if they are going to qualify for the next competition, so they will be hoping they can do everything they can to get him fit for at least one of the matches.
