Leeds United fans are expecting a busy transfer window following the £11 million sale of Ross McCormack but Peacocks supporters have been left disappointed by the failure to sign Sassuolo’s Swiss centre back Jonathan Rossini.
And HITC Sport have revealed that Rossini himself is just as disappointed, revealing he holds ‘deep regret’ over the failure to complete the switch to Elland Road.
The once capped Swiss international was expected to become the Whites’ third Italian-based signing of the summer, but Leeds owner Massimo Cellino has refused to complete the deal, claiming Rossini ‘does not have the right attitude’ to play for Leeds, after a three-day training camp with the side.
Rossini said: “I feel the need to thank Leeds United and the figures of president Cellino and sporting director Nicola Salerno for the proposal and for the hospitality received in the retreat in recent days.”
“With deep regret I am unable to accept a transfer to this prestigious club of which I would be honoured to be a part.
“The reasons are strictly personal and do not relate to contractual issues nor approval of the destination.
“I sincerely wish Leeds good luck with the hope that our paths will cross again in the future.”
