# Seriously underrated: These 2 Everton players definitely deserve more respect and recognition

**The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are still partying over last weekend’s football as their Europa League dream still seems within reach.**

The Merseyside club pulled off an amazing victory over Bournemouth and the punters hope that they can qualify for Europe under Ronald Koeman. The Everton fans are chanting Romelu Lukaku, Ross Barkley and Leighton Baines all over the Tavern as they show their appreciation for the players.

However, not all of the players get the appreciation they deserve. Some of the Everton lads might not even be mentioned by their fans because they never get the goals or the assists. Nevertheless, these players are the backbone for the Toffees.

You could say that some of the Everton players are underrated. It could be that they are not recognised for their performances or  that they aren’t given the respect they deserve…

## Gareth Barry

The experienced midfielder was unbelievable for Everton last season, despite their season being a disappointment. Last season the Everton fans where chanting Barry’s name all over the bar. However, this season the 35-year-old’s performances have been underrated by the punters in the Tavern.

Barry has remained a consistent part of Koeman’s plans and he has shown that age is only a number. While the ex-City man may not grab the headlines with goals or assists, his contribution is second to none and he will be majorly missed when he decides to hang up his football boots.

## Idrissa Gueye

The Senegalese midfielder has recently been away at the Africa Cup of Nations whilst Everton have managed to gain a lot of momentum in their European push.

Gueye has arguably been Everton’s best player this season in the way he controls the midfield. However, due to the fact that he was part of an Everton team that was losing his performances have often gone unnoticed. Since his absence the Toffees have gone on to win four of their last five games and so Gueye’s importance with the Everton faithful has began to drop.

But, when Gueye is fully fit and ready he will only improve Everton’s chance of a top 6 finish.
