# Sheffield United: Blades submit £12m bid for Aaron Ramsdale

**It looks like Sheffield United are preparing for a future without Dean Henderson as they have reportedly shown a serious interest in Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, for whom a bid is believed to have been submitted.**

According to [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12043902/aaron-ramsdale-bournemouth-reject-12m-bid-from-sheffield-united-for-goalkeeper), the Blades submitted a bid of around £12m for the Cherries player, although it has been rejected by the recently-[relegated](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/table) south coast club.

Sheffield United sold the former [England under-21 international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dean-henderson/profil/spieler/258919) to Bournemouth back in [2017](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-ramsdale/transfers/spieler/427568), and with this first bid rejected, it is currently unsure whether they will make another offer or look elsewhere for a potential successor to Henderson.

At 22, Ramsdale is still very young for a goalkeeper and it will be a tough ask to replace Henderson, who had the [joint-third](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/clean_sheet) most clean sheets in the Premier League last term, picking up 13 in 36 appearances and only conceding 33 goals, per[Transfermarkt.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dean-henderson/profil/spieler/258919)

However, Ramsdale is a very good option for the club, and he clearly impressed last season at the Vitality Stadium, as the [Bournemouth Echo](https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/18614946.aaron-ramsdale-wins-2020-daily-echo-micky-cave-supporters-player-of-the-year-award/) awarded him with the Cherries’ Player of the Year prize.

Despite Bournemouth being [relegated](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/table) from the Premier League, the goalkeeper was one of a few who still shone under Eddie Howe as he kept five clean sheets and made 129 saves, the third-highest in the [Premier League,](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/saves) in what was his [debut](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-ramsdale/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/427568/verein/989) campaign in the English top flight.

The 22-year-old has definitely shown that he has the potential to be a solid Premier League goalkeeper and, if the Blades cannot get [Henderson](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dean-henderson/profil/spieler/258919) back from Manchester United, then Ramsdale would be a very good replacement.
