# Sheffield United: Brian Deane discusses Oliver Burke signing

**It was a disappointing start to the Premier League campaign for Sheffield United as they lost [2-0](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54052534), however the result was against a very good Wolves side and hopefully it will be a warning to the Blades that they can’t take the league softly despite their [top ten finish](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table/2019) last campaign.**

Chris Wilder has made quite a [few signings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sheffield-united/transfers/verein/350), including [bringing](https://twitter.com/SheffieldUnited/status/1303657505508282368?s=20) attacker Oliver Burke to the club. The Scotsman was involved in a swap-deal with [Callum Robinson](https://twitter.com/SheffieldUnited/status/1303659628832718848?s=20), who went to West Bromwich Albion, and former forward Brian Deane has been discussing the player as he thinks this is a big chance for Burke to make a name for himself.

Speaking to [talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/radio/listen-again/1600084800/1600093800/), via [SheffieldUnitedNews](https://www.sheffieldunited.news/news/brian-deane-thinks-its-time-for-oliver-burke-to-grow-up-at-sheffield-united/), Deane said: “That’s the one (signing) where I think he’s had a lot of opportunities. He’s been talked up, he’s been hyped. It’s time for him now, perhaps to grow up and realise this is the last opportunity he’ll get at a really top club.

“Those reputations can follow you around. He’s perhaps looked at the situation and thought this is a good place for him to compete and prove he’s a bit more mature.”

Deane is right when it comes to talking about how this could be the last chance for Burke to prove himself and get a chance at a big club in a big division, as he has failed to set the world alight at his last three clubs, (West Brom, Celtic and Alaves), per [Transfermarkt.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/oliver-burke/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/341317) During his spells at these sides, Burke has played 75 times but only scored six goals whilst also picking up eight assists, per [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/oliver-burke/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/341317).

There is no doubting the potential that Burke does have, as he was [signed](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/oliver-burke/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/341317) by Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in the past after his good performances at Nottingham Forest made many believe he was a [wonder kid](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/01/06/former-nottingham-forest-wonderkid-oliver-burke-doesnt-believe-m/) at the Championship club, however he needs to start showing this potential sooner rather than later to not just show to Wilder that he was a worthwhile signing, but to also make sure his career starts going the way he wants it to.
