# Sheffield United: Chris Wilder waits on Dean Henderson’s ‘crucial’ Man United talks

**Former Sheffield United loanee Dean Henderson’s talks over his future with Manchester United are [reported](https://www.skysports.com/transfer/news/11667/12038606/dean-henderson-manchester-united-goalkeepers-new-contract-talks-reach-crucial-stage) to have entered into a ‘crucial stage’.**

The 23-year-old goalkeeper played a big part in the Blades’ successful top 10 finish this term, making [36 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dean-henderson/profil/spieler/258919) in which he kept [13 clean sheets.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dean-henderson/profil/spieler/258919)

Consistent performances saw the former Shrewsbury Town loanee further enhance his reputation and his return to parent club Man United has now seen his future being discussed.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer currently has David de Gea as his number one and it is unknown whether or not Henderson would have a starting role at Old Trafford.

Henderson, who has a [contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dean-henderson/profil/spieler/258919) with the Red Devils until 2022, is still very much a target for Sheffield United, with [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/transfer/news/11667/12038606/dean-henderson-manchester-united-goalkeepers-new-contract-talks-reach-crucial-stage) claiming that Wilder ‘would love’ to have him back at the Yorkshire club.

With Manchester United and Henderson now locked in talks over his future plans, [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/transfer/news/11667/12038606/dean-henderson-manchester-united-goalkeepers-new-contract-talks-reach-crucial-stage) have reported that those discussions are at a ‘critical stage’ and that a resolution could take up to two weeks.

The future of Henderson, who is valued by [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dean-henderson/profil/spieler/258919) at £18m, is very much up in the air at present and Wilder has seemingly looked at other options, with a recent report by [The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/12250198/ramsdale-henderson-sheffield-united-bournemouth-transfer/) claimingthat  a move for Bournemouth stopper Aaron Ramsdale could develop.

Henderson is unlikely to get first team football at Manchester United unless De Gea is sold, and [that seems unlikely at present](https://www.skysports.com/transfer/news/11667/12038606/dean-henderson-manchester-united-goalkeepers-new-contract-talks-reach-crucial-stage).

Wilder may have a glimmer of hope to bring the talented ‘keeper back to Bramall Lane but, if he makes a move for Ramsdale and is unable to land Henderson again, he would at least have a replacement with [decent Premier League experience](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-ramsdale/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/427568/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/989).
