Sheffield United have shared footage of Chris Basham as Friday marked six years to the day since he joined the Blades.

After arriving at Bramall Lane from Blackpool on a free transfer, it is fair to say Basham has been a loyal servant to the club.

Indeed, the veteran has stayed with the South Yorkshire outfit from the depths of League One all the way through to the lofty peaks of the Premier League.

The 31-year-old has made 28 appearances in the English top flight for Chris Wilder's side, making 2.2 tackles per game, averaging 2.2 interceptions, and completing a staggering 4.5 clearances on average (via WhoScored).

His versatility is a real asset, as he has played in a variety of positions across the midfield and the back line.

Wilder's men have surged to the top end of the table, and are currently tied with Wolverhampton Wanderers on 43 points, only 2 points behind Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United.

Given his performances over the years, it is hardly surprising that the highlight reel received so much attention from the United faithful. A fan tweeted he is the "unsung hero" of the season, while another added the club should "erect that statue now." One supporter simply dubbed him a "class act."
