Henderson had two great seasons at the club, the £18 million valued goalkeeper was a crucial player, both during their promotion season and also last term as he played 86 times, conceding 78 goals and keeping 35 clean sheets, per Transfermarkt. Thirteen of these clean sheets came in the Premier League, where Henderson also made 97 saves and made one penalty save.
Due to his time at the Blades, he has gone from a virtual unknown, to someone who at the age of 23 is already having many discussing him being close to getting in the England squad and it shows that he owes a lot to the club. This is definitely something he understands as he posted a farewell message on Instagram. He put up a picture of him celebrating mid game, with the caption: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at @sheffieldunited for the last two years. Winning promotion to the Premier League with my brothers and having the season we had this season is something I will never forget.
“I would like to thank the manager, my teammates, the backroom staff and of course, the fans, who have been unbelievable towards to me. I will look back at the last two years as an important chapter in my career and more than anything, i’m grateful to have had the opportunity to learn and develop with such a class group of lads.”
This message clearly shows he knows how good the club has been for his career, and many of the Blades fan base have also understood how he has helped them achieve so much in the last two seasons as they replied with their thanks and bid goodbye to the goalkeeper, who will now look to battle David De Gea for a spot at Manchester United.
