Sheffield United: News suggests that the Blades are most cost-efficient Premier League side since the 1990’s - Premier League

Sheffield United continue to impress in their first season back in the Premier League since 2007, and the fact that they sit in the top half in the division highlights how good a job Chris Wilder has done at the club.

The news keeps on getting better as a tweet on Premier League finances shows just how good a job Wilder is doing at Bramall Lane.

According to BetVictor, via International Radio Broadcaster Hal Stewart: “Sheffield United are the most cost-efficient side since the 1990’s in the top flight.”

“They are paying £237,193 in wages per point (the lowest cost per point since Charlton in 98/99 a year they were relegated). United are the only team in the top half finishing with such a budget.”

By looking at Wilder’s seasons in charge since he took over in the 2016/17, you can see how good a job he has done. He has taken them from a mid table League One side to a Premier League club battling for Europe in four seasons, per Transfermarkt.

However the financial update provided just further emphasises how good a job he is doing and how important he is to the Blades’ success. The fact he is doing it with such a limited budget shows how much the squad want to play for him and how well he and his staff must coach them.

Supporters will hope that he can bring them even more success and if they do manage to finish in a European position, then there should definitely be calls for Wilder to be in the running for Manager of the Season.
