It hasn’t been the greatest start to the 2020/21 season for Sheffield United as they lost their first game of the Premier League to Wolves and were then knocked out on penalties in the Carabao Cup by Burnley.
Therefore, Chris Wilder will be hoping that they can turn things around when they face Aston Villa in the league this evening as they seek to get their first points of the season on board.
Here is the TT predicted XI which sees Wilder makes seven changes from the penalty shoot-out defeat at Turf Moor for this evening’s clash, a fixture which ended in a 0-0 draw last season in the first post-lockdown Premier League match in June.
Wes Foderingham made his senior debut for the Blades in the League Cup loss to Burnley, but it will be very likely that Aaron Ramsdale will come back in for the trip to Villa Park. Meanwhile, Wilder gave his entire first-choice defence a rest against Burnley in order to make sure they are fully fit to face Villa, and hopefully he will be rewarded for not making them play three times in a week.
Sander Berge started against Burnley and came on against Wolves, so it looks like he has fully recovered from the injury he suffered on international duty and it will be a huge positive for the Blades to see him back in the starting XI. The Norwegian made two clearances, two interceptions and blocked one shot against Burnley, per SofaScore, so hopefully he will provide some good defensive cover for Sheffield United.
In attack, Billy Sharp will most likely be dropped as he has played the last two games and not threatened massively. With Lys Mousset injured, this will see David McGoldrick most likely come in to replace Sharp. This will be a deserved introduction as the Irishman scored against Burnley and may be fully confident that he can score again this evening.
