Sheffield United: Predicted XI to play Wolves

Sheffield United: Predicted XI to play Wolves - Sheffield United News

Sheffield United get their second season back in the Premier League underway on Monday and it is a very tricky first fixture as they face Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Blades had a great first campaign back in the Premier League last season as they managed to finish ninth in the division and only five points from Europe. Chris Wilder will be hoping that the club doesn’t suffer any ‘second-season syndrome’ and another mid table finish would be the sign of another great campaign.

They will want to get off to a good start and here is the TT predicted XI, which sees Wilder make four changes for the fixture from how he lined up against Southampton on the final day of last term.

A big change at the club will be in between the sticks, as Dean Henderson returned to his parent club Manchester United to fight David De Gea for the number one spot at Old Trafford. The Blades acted quickly and signed AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale as a replacement and he will make his second debut for the club in the upcoming fixture.

Meanwhile supporters will be happy with the fact that Wilder has come out and said that midfielder Jack O’Connell will be fit for action for the game as he said: ‘He’ll be fit for Wolves – 100 per cent – he’s working away with the conditioners so no risk today.’

That means that the usual back five from last year should start, with George Baldock, Chris Basham, John Egan and Enda Stevens all in the 11.

question mark

What is Chris Wilder's win percentage as Sheffield United manager?

Wilder has had matters taken out of his hands when it comes to one player, as Sander Berge suffered an injury on international duty with Norway and this could see new loan signing Ethan Ampadu, who is valued at £8.1 million on Transfermarkt, slot into midfield to replace him.

Strikers Lys Mousset and David McGoldrick are both carrying injuries, so veteran striker Billy Sharp, who has been a regular in pre-season, will most likely be paired up with joint top goal scorer from last season Oliver McBurnie.
