Sheffield United are preparing to increase the quality of their squad for next season, and they have already made their first signing as it was announced over the weekend that Wes Foderingham had signed for the club on a free transfer.
The 29 year-old Englishman had made 143 appearances for Scottish side Rangers, keeping 56 clean sheets, per Transfermarkt, but only managed to make five appearances in all competitions last season under Steven Gerrard.
Is Foderingham a good signing?
The signing might have been surprising for some supporters, but adding a goalkeeper who has experience at a side battling at the top of their division and has experience in Europe is quite an astute move for Wilder and not only does it add some extra quality in the goalkeeper slot, but he will also be a good player mentally to have in the squad.
Clearly the player himself is very excited about the move to Bramall Lane, as he went to Instagram to post about signing for the club, and said: “Delighted to sign for Sheffield United. Has always been my dream to get back to the Premier League. Will Give everything for the club ⚔️”.
Blades supporters will welcome anyone who gives everything for the club, and their squad is full of players who give their all on the pitch, which highlights why they are currently eighth in the Premier League, per BBC Sport.
Therefore the fact that Foderingham said he will ‘give everything for the club’ should please the fan base and hopefully when he gets his chance in between the sticks, he impresses.
