It was a remarkable achievement as they were favourites to be relegated and have proved many wrong. Hopefully Chris Wilder can build on this next season and continue to perform at a very good level. To do so he will need some new recruits and this has seen them linked with a few players in the transfer window, including defender Antonee Robinson.
According to The Sun, the Blades are looking to sign the Wigan full-back for a fee of £1.5 million, but they are not the only Premier League side interested as the media outlet report that West Bromwich Albion are also looking to acquire the left-back. West Ham United have also been linked in the past.
The Baggies were supposedly at the front of the queue, but with the new interest from Sheffield United, it seems like they are now favourites.
The American has had a very good season in the Championship, playing 38 games in the division and averaging three clearances, 2.2 tackles and two interceptions a game, per WhoScored. He has also scored one and assisted one, whilst averaging 2.1 successful dribbles per match.
These stats show how good he is at dealing with attacking threats and that he can be somewhat of a threat going forward as well, which emphasises why AC Milan were very interested in the player in January. The Italian side were close to signing the defender for around £10 million including add-ons, per BBC Sport. Therefore £1.5 million seems like a bargain.
He is only 23 years-old and therefore he has a lot of potential to grow even more as a defender and get even better. This seems like an ideal player for Wilder to bring to the club, and with current left-back Enda Stevens 30, Robinson could be seen as his future replacement. Jack Robinson, who is seen as a left-back has featured more under Wilder as a centre-back so Antonee Robinson would add some much-need squad depth on the left flank.
This, added with the fact that the Blades could be getting him for around £8.5 million cheaper than what Milan were going to sign him for in January highlights that the club should be doing everything to bring the player to Bramall Lane.
