Sheffield United: Aston Villa try to swoop in for Blades transfer target Aaron Ramsdale

It was reported at the weekend that Sheffield United have had an £18.5 million bid accepted for AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, and this looked to be the end of the speculation about who will come in to replace Dean Henderson at Bramall Lane.
However it seems like there is another twist as fellow Premier League side Aston Villa are apparently looking to hijack the deal.
According to Football Insider, Dean Smith is looking for a new goalkeeper to join Villa, and he may swoop in with a bid as personal terms between the Blades and Aaron Ramsdale have not been agreed yet.
Indeed, the Villans are down a goalkeeper after Pepe Reina’s loan spell came to an end, leaving them with Tom Heaton and Orjan Nyland between the sticks.
The Bournemouth goalkeeper had a good season last time out, making 129 saves, saving one penalty, and keeping five clean sheets, per Premier League.
He is still quite young, as he is only 22, and was awarded with the Player of the Year award at the Cherries for his efforts in between the sticks last season.
This bodes very well for supporters of the Blades and they should be excited about the possible signing. They should also not be too fearful of Villa possibly stealing the deal, and this is due to the fact that Ramsdale is formerly a Blades player and came from their academy so he will know the club well. It also helps that Sheffield United achieved a top ten finish last season and this will tempt Ramsdale more than a club at the moment like Villa who just survived, per BBC Sport.
