Dean Henderson posted on Instagram earlier in the week, thanking both Sheffield United and the fanbase for their support whilst he has been on loan from Manchester United.
With the season over, he will return to Old Trafford, and it is uncertain whether he will be the number one at the club next season. This means he could return to Bramall Lane again on loan, but it looks like the club have got a list of possible replacements if they cannot do a deal, with one option being Aaron Ramsdale.
According to The Daily Mail, Sheffield United are looking to re-sign Ramsdale from AFC Bournemouth this summer to fill the void which may be left by Henderson.
The 22 year-old started his career at the Blades when he was in the youth academy, but was bought by the Cherries in 2017 for £846,000, per Transfermarkt.
Ramsdale is still very young for a goalkeeper, and it will be very hard to replace Henderson as he had the joint-third most clean sheets in the division, picking up 13 in 36 appearances whilst only conceding 33 goals, per Transfermarkt.
However the Cherries goalkeeper could be a very decent replacement and he could be available for a cheaper price as Eddie Howe’s side were relegated this campaign.
He did have a decent campaign himself, keeping five clean sheets and making 129 saves, which was the third-highest in the Premier League, in what was his debut campaign in the English top flight.
He has clearly shown some potential despite the poor results at Bournemouth this season, and under Chris Wilder’s guidance at Bramall Lane, there is no doubt that the 22 year-old could get even better with a defence like the one the Blades have in front of him. Indeed, the South Yorkshire side have been rock solid, conceding the fourth fewest amount of goals in the league.
