It looks like Chris Wilder has no issue with signing players from the Championship, which is understandable as a lot of his squad that finished ninth in the Premier League were key to helping the side get promoted to England’s top flight in the first place.
They are now being linked with Joe Worrall as Wilder looks to improve his squad in the transfer window.
Burnley need to raise funds if they do want to sign the defender, so Sheffield United are in a better position to sign him.
The 23 year-old centre-back made 46 appearances in the Championship in the 2019/20 season, scoring once and assisting four times, per WhoScored. More importantly, he has managed on average 5.2 clearances and 1.2 interceptions per game, which shows that he is great at breaking up opposition attacks.
This seems like an astute signing from Wilder, Worrall is still young but has very good experience in the Championship, which is a very competitive division. This is highlighted by the fact that only ten points separated seven sides in the middle of the league, whilst 18th-22nd all could have got relegated on the last day, per BBC Sport, and there is no doubt that he can become a Premier League defender under the guidance of the Blades manager.
He might not come straight into the starting eleven, as the defence managed 13 clean sheets in the Premier League last season, but he will definitely improve the quality of the squad and be a very useful player to come into the side if called upon.
