If Sheffield United want to battle for a top ten finish like they did last season, then they will need to increase the quality of their squad and the latest reports suggest they are looking to strengthen their attack.
Apparently they are not the only club interested as fellow Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion are also keen on the forward, and both would be willing to pay €15 million (£13.5m).
The Uruguayan is only 21, but clearly has a good eye for the back of the net as he has scored 16 goals and picked up two assists in 30 appearances for UD Almeria, per Transfermarkt. Even though Nunez is playing in La Liga 2, this is still a very good tally for the player to have picked up in his first year in the division.
He has also appeared in a friendly for Uruguay, and managed to pick up a goal, further proving the fact that he is a very prolific forward.
It would be good for Chris Wilder to add to his options up front. Two of his strikers, Lys Mousset and Oliver McBurnie, have done well this season as they have scored six goals each, which is the most out of the Blades squad.
After that however the options upfront have not scored a lot of goals as Billy Sharp and David McGoldrick have five goals between them. The latter two forwards are also quite old as well as Sharp is 34 and McGoldrick is 32, so the lack of goals they both have, plus their age would emphasise that although a signing like Nunez would be risky because he is unknown to the Premier League, he would be a good option for the club to try to sign so that they can build for the future.
