It is very well known that Sheffield United have one big issue to sort out before the 2020/21 Premier League season starts, and that is who will be their number one goalkeeper.
Dean Henderson returned to Manchester United as his loan deal expired, and his future at Old Trafford is still unknown, but the Blades can’t wait around forever and this has seen them linked with Marco Bizot.
According to Sky Sports, the Blades are interested in the goalkeeper, but face a lot of competition as Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Valencia are all wanting to sign him, whilst Crystal Palace and Fulham are also keeping an eye on the player.
No offers have been made, but with so many clubs interested there could easily be a bidding war, which would work perfectly for his current club AZ Alkmaar.
Henderson had the joint-third most clean sheets in the Premier League last term, picking up 13 in 36 appearances and only conceding 33 goals, per Transfermarkt. This, plus his performances with the Blades in the Championship which helped the club get promoted have seen him become a fan favourite, so whoever comes into replace him has a big task on their hands.
However, Bizot seems like a very good option, and not just because of the many clubs he has been linked with including Spanish giants Atletico, but also because of his stats this season. The Dutchman, who is valued at £4.95 million on Transfermarkt, has made 41 appearances for AZ this season, including in the Europa League, and has kept a very impressive 27 clean sheets, whilst also only conceding 27 goals.
The 29 year-old has clearly had a great season, and if Wilder is not able to bring Henderson back to the club, then Bizot definitely looks a solid alternative option.
