# Sheffield United: Transfer target Matty Cash fancies a move to the Blades

**Sheffield United would have been slightly frustrated as they lost out on transfer target [Antonee Robinson](https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-united/former-sheffield-united-target-hints-why-he-turned-down-move-bramall-lane-2949322) to newly-promoted Fulham. However it is normal for such a thing to happen in the transfer window. Despite this, there is a positive update on another defender they are very interested in.**

According to the [Sheffield Star](https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-united/sheffield-uniteds-search-more-new-signings-hots-chris-wilder-and-his-squad-arrive-scotland-2950396), Nottingham Forest defender Matty Cash now knows of the Blades interest in him, and he is very keen to move to Bramall Lane to try and experience the Premier League.

The only issue is that Forest are not wanting to sell the Englishman at the moment, so for now Sheffield United have a lot of work to do to make the deal happen. They have already had an offer of £10 million [rejected](https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/sheffield-united-matty-cash-latest-18761806), but it has been [reported](https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/sheffield-united-matty-cash-latest-18761806) in the past that an offer closer to £15 million could tempt the Championship side.

The [22-year-old](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison) performed very well for Forest in both attack and defence as he [made](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison) 42 appearances in the league last term and scored [three](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison) goals whilst supplying [five](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison) assists. He also made 1.1 key passes per match and averaged 2.6 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and three clearances per game, via [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison).

Chris Wilder [favours a formation](https://m.football-lineups.com/team/Sheffield-United/) which uses three centre-backs and two wing-backs and so a right-back like Cash would fit in perfectly, and with George Baldock at the club in the [same position](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/134244/Show/George-Baldock) as Cash, it would give the Blades some great depth in the right-wing back position.

It is just up to how much Wilder feels like he needs the defender, Baldock had a very good season for the Blades, averaging 1.6 tackles a game, whilst also picking up two goals and three assists, per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/134244/Show/George-Baldock), and is only 27, but maybe Wilder feels like he needs another player in that position who has more potential or even to put pressure on the ex-MK Dons man.

£15 million for a defender who is young but is producing great numbers, and also wants to move to the club seems like a no-brainer and would definitely strengthen the Blades next season.
