# Sheffield Wednesday: Aden Flint transfer talk prompts fan response

**Sheffield Wednesday fans have been reacting to a transfer update surrounding the club’s [reported interest](https://twitter.com/YesWeCrann/status/1315899000592232448?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) in Cardiff City defender Aden Flint.**

Owls boss Garry Monk was a busy man over the [summer transfer window](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sheffield-wednesday/transfers/verein/1035), bringing the likes of Josh Windass, Callum Paterson, Elias Kachunga and Izzy Brown to Hillsborough.

With the domestic transfer window coming to a close in the next few days (Friday 16/10), Monk has been linked with a potential move for Cardiff defender Flint.

Valued at £3.6m by [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aden-flint/profil/spieler/105324), the 31-year-old is unlikely to get sufficient game time with the Welsh club this season, [being yet to feature](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aden-flint/profil/spieler/105324) in the Championship.

During his time with Cardiff, [Flint has made 30 appearances, whilst also spending time with the likes of Middlesbrough, Bristol City and Swindon Town during his career.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aden-flint/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/105324)

With his [contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aden-flint/profil/spieler/105324) coming to an end next summer at Cardiff, a potential move to Wednesday before Friday’s deadline, however, has seemingly been rubbished by The Star journalist Joe Crann, who tweeted:

> I’m led to believe that [#SWFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/SWFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) have shown a genuine interest in Cardiff City’s Aden Flint, but with 18 months left in his [#CCFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/CCFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) deal, it’s looking unlikely at this stage.
>
> Of course that can change quickly. The transfer window closes on Friday. [https://t.co/iify0yDx0a](https://t.co/iify0yDx0a) 🦉⚽️

Crann’s transfer update was then followed up by a number of Owls fans, and you can find some of the best reactions below.

> Joe, do you feel this is to complement the current squad or as a potential replacement for outgoings IE Iorfa?

> Hopefully the injuries to Iorfa and Lees aren’t that bad. My worry with Monks comments about Iorfa is that sometimes the “not going anywhere” comments mean “ pay big money and you will get said player”. On flint I don’t see him as a CB in a 3 man defence, always played in a 4

> Surely before showing genuine interest they would have known how long he had left on his contract etc

> Rather take Hector back. Central, Iorfa and lees / Borner either side.
