# Sheffield Wednesday: Fans react as Dom Howson provides transfer update on Jacob Murphy

**It seems like Jacob Murphy is a transfer target Sheffield Wednesday want to pursue, but his current club Newcastle United seem to be undecided on whether they want to let him go.**

According to [Dom Howson](https://twitter.com/domhowson/status/1298625641206689792?s=20), the Magpies are in no rush to make a decision on the winger due to the fact that manager Steve Bruce wants to take a look at the [25 year-old](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jacob-murphy/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/199527/wettbewerb/GB2/saison/2019) during pre-season and see if he is good enough to play for the Premier League side.

Murphy was with the Owls on [loan](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jacob-murphy/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/199527/wettbewerb/GB2/saison/2019) last season and during this period, he played 39 times in the Championship, scoring nine goals and picking up six assists, per [Transfermarkt.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jacob-murphy/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/199527/wettbewerb/GB2/saison/2019)

It is no surprise to see Garry Monk interested in bringing Murphy back to Hillsborough as the winger was the second top goal scorer at the [club](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/25/Show/England-Sheffield-Wednesday) last season. However they might have to look at other targets as they cannot just wait around for Newcastle to make a decision.

Here is what fans said following the news, with the majority suggesting they believe a deal is unlikely and the club can’t wait around forever, and so should move on.

Would like him to come but not going to happen. Don’t let’s leave it until that late we can’t get anyone else worth having.

> Can’t see Bruce allowing him back to come back to us he only gave him to us last year out of guilt for leaving us

> Need to set a time limit on ourselves, can’t wait indefinitely. We need a quality player to fill that role.

> Wait as long as needs be for him but keep the pressure on and keep pushing. Absolutely our #1 target in this window

> Honestly can’t see us affording him, he will cost a few million at least and he’ll be on a right wage
