# Sheffield Wednesday: Fans react as Howson gives update on Nuhiu and Lee

**Sheffield Wednesday looked to have seen the last of Atdhe Nuhiu and Kieran Lee when the season ended as the [two](https://the72.co.uk/181798/sheffield-wednesdays-experienced-midfielder-could-follow-nuhiu-out-the-exit-door/) had come to the end of their contracts and no new deal was agreed.**

However it seems fans of the club might not have seen the back of the two players just yet, after journalist Dom Howson [tweeted out](https://twitter.com/domhowson/status/1290527890535260160?s=20) that ‘There is still a chance Kieran Lee and Atdhe Nuhiu could return to Hillsborough’, and many of the Owls fan base are reacting to this news.

This news might not be as much of a surprise following the news that the Owls will have a [12 point deduction](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53612257) at the start of the 2020/21 Championship campaign, and it looks like the club might bring the two back as they could find it hard to acquire replacements due to their situation.

Both have been great servants for the club, Nuhiu featured 276 times for the Owls in all competitions and scored 50 goals whilst registering 27 assists, per [Transfermarkt.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/atdhe-nuhiu/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/53436/plus/0?saison=&verein=1035&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=)

Meanwhile Lee arrived on a free transfer from Oldham Athletic back in 2012, per [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kieran-lee/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/50439/verein/1035), and has gone on to make 217 appearances for the club as a defensive midfielder, scoring 22 goals and picking up 15 assists along the way.

It will be interesting to see what happens next, as both fans and the two players are uncertain of their future.

Here is what fans had to say following the news:

> No thanks to either. One is injury-prone & on the decline as a footballer, the other a striker who can’t score goals & only tries when his contract is up for renewal. The club simply has to move on from players which have perpetually bottled it on the pitch [#swfc](https://twitter.com/hashtag/swfc?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)

> We have a threadbare squad & beggars can’t be choosers. As our 12 point deduction will put off players from signing for us, we most certainly are beggars. I’d also add, when the likes of Fox, Forestieri & Fletcher couldn’t get out of the door quick enough, these 2 stuck around.

> We need both . Strong characters with great attitudes. Both club captain material.

> Need new blood these two were far too comfortable at the club for me.

> Do we have much money to spend? Will many players want to come to us? Even with these 2 as squad players, it wouldn’t be the worst move. Wages won’t be sky high. At least they wanted to play after the restart. ÒvÓ
