# Sheffield Wednesday: Fans react following announcement of the 2020/21 Championship fixtures

**Sheffield Wednesday supporters will be raring to go for the upcoming campaign, and it will feel like the start is near as the Championship 2020/21 fixtures were recently announced.**

The club [tweeted](https://twitter.com/swfc/status/1296718720010788864?s=20) out an image showing all the fixtures of the new season, which will start on September 12th, and the Owls face a very tricky away trip to start their season as they face Cardiff, who finished in the [play-offs](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/championship/table) last season.

The [first game](https://twitter.com/swfc/status/1296718720010788864?s=20) at Hillsborough on the 19th September is also a very hard fixture as they face Watford, who were [relegated](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/table) from the Premier League last season and so Garry Monk will have to make sure that he gets pre-season exactly right so that the squad are fit and raring to go for Championship campaign.

It doesn’t help either that the club currently have a [12 point deduction](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53612257#:~:text=Sheffield%20Wednesday%20have%20been%20deducted,being%20sold%20a%20year%20later.), so they already have a big challenge, but they are already preparing well as they have made [three signings.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sheffield-wednesday/startseite/verein/1035) There has been a mixed reaction from a lot of the Owls fan base as some are worried about the start, whilst others are just fit and raring for the season to start.

Here is what they said following the news:

> We are going to need a squad & a half to get through December, with 8 games the list looks unbalanced, pretty sure they’ll be praying for a significant snow fall just for some recovery time.\
> Not good for a threadbare squad!

> Looking through the list to see where I think the “Easies” are. There aren’t any, a tough league this year. Going to have to be focussed on results [#swfc](https://twitter.com/hashtag/swfc?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)
