# Sheffield Wednesday: Fans react following Dom Howson update on Jacob Murphy

**Sheffield Wednesday are very active in the transfer window as they have already made [three signings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sheffield-wednesday/transfers/verein/1035/plus/0?saison_id=2020&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=), and the latest news suggests that they have a fourth transfer target in mind.**

According to [Dom Howson](https://twitter.com/domhowson/status/1297547893214261250?s=20) on Twitter, who is a journalist for The Star, Wednesday are working very hard on a deal to bring winger Jacob Murphy back to Hillsborough.

The Englishman is well known to those associated with the Owls as he was on [loan](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jacob-murphy/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/199527/wettbewerb/GB2/saison/2019) from Premier League side Newcastle last season. During this period, he played 39 times in the Championship, scoring nine goals and picking up six assists, per [Transfermarkt.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jacob-murphy/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/199527/wettbewerb/GB2/saison/2019)

This ranked him as the second highest scorer at the club in 2019/20, per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/25/Show/England-Sheffield-Wednesday), and it emphasises why a lot of supporters would like to see him return next season.

A deal to bring him back to the club won’t be easy however, as Glasgow Rangers, Middlesbrough, Derby County, Stoke City and Nottingham Forest are all interested in signing the [25 year-old](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jacob-murphy/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/199527/wettbewerb/GB2/saison/2019) according to Howson.

> Apart from him getting 1st team football at Newcastle we must be in a strong position compared to the other clubs interested 👍🏻

> It depends if anyone with the money wants to buy him, or pay to have him on loan. I’d love to see him back, but we need a striker for him to be effective. Neither him, Windass, or Leko are anything better than useful players to have. We need them, but need more up front.
