# Sheffield Wednesday: Joe Crann shares Reece James injury update

**[Sheffield Wednesday](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/sheffield-wednesday-news/) reporter [Joe Crann](https://twitter.com/YesWeCrann/status/1621511392682737668) has shared an injury update on defender Reece James before the club’s showdown against Plymouth Argyle.**

### The Lowdown: Huge Hillsborough clash

The Owls go into this afternoon’s meeting with Argyle knowing a win will take them to the top of the League One standings. Darren Moore’s side have won their last [five](https://www.skysports.com/league-1-table) league games and have both a greater goal difference and a game in hand on their opponents.

This afternoon’s game could be key in the race for the title and automatic promotion, however, Moore will still be without James.

### The Latest: Injury news

Crann relayed comments from Moore’s pre-Plymouth press conference on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/YesWeCrann/status/1621511392682737668), confirming there are no new injury concerns.

He added however that ‘Wednesday hope’ to have James back in the ‘next couple of weeks’.

### The Verdict: Fingers crossed

James has been labelled as ‘[superb](https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-wednesday/sheffield-wednesday-defender-praised-after-superb-recent-efforts-for-owls-3858982)’ by Moore and has made [23](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/reece-james/leistungsdaten/spieler/245585) appearances in all competitions for Wednesday, registering [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/reece-james/leistungsdaten/spieler/245585) assists.

He has shown his versatility by [turning](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/reece-james/leistungsdaten/spieler/245585) out at centre-back, left-back and a left midfielder, and ranks highly in the Owls’ squad when it comes to tackles and interceptions made per 90. \[[WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/25/Show/England-Sheffield-Wednesday)\]

The games are coming thick and fast for Moore, so having a fully fit squad to choose from will be extremely handy, and hopefully, James will be back sooner rather than later.
