Former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Carlton Palmer expects Darren Moore to target players at his old clubs Doncaster Rovers and West Brom this summer.

This comes after YorkshireLive journalist Dom Howson recently reported that the Owls have genuine interest in Doncaster defender Reece James, though a deal looks unlikely due to the 27-year-old preferring a move to the Championship.

Wednesday's financial difficulties at the moment will also not help their cause for James or any potential target for that matter.

However, should the situation improve, Palmer thinks Moore could look at some of the Englishman's Doncaster team-mates, as well as players at West Brom, as he looks to rebuild the Owls' squad ahead of the new League One campaign.

"I'm sure he'll look at Doncaster; I'm sure he'll look at West Brom," the ex-Wednesday player told TT.

"Whenever you go anywhere as a manager, you always go back to your former club because you know the players inside out and you know what they bring to the table.

"You know what they bring to the dressing room and you know what they'll bring to the team. So I wouldn't be surprised to see players coming from Doncaster and players coming from West Brom. I wouldn't be surprised at all."

Again, a lot will surely depend on Dejphon Chansiri addressing the current financial issues at the club - such as paying players' wages. But, ultimately, it would not be a shock to see Moore target more names at Doncaster.
