Sheff Wed: Owls eye up move for Tolaji Bola - League One News

Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal youngster Tolaji Bola this summer, as Darren Moore looks to add quality in defence.

The Lowdown: Moore on the lookout for signings

This is a crucial transfer window for the Owls, as they ponder life in League One and seek an immediate return to the Championship.

Moore needs to bring in his own players as a number of others leave Hillsborough, ensuring they are in a strong position to push for promotion in 2021/22.

Players with experience in the third tier could be crucial, and it looks like the club have already got their eyes on one.

The Latest: Owls keen on Bola signing

According to The Sheffield Star, Wednesday are interested in signing Bola in the coming weeks, seeing him as a strong left-back option.

The 22-year-old had a spell on loan at Rochdale last season and has made 56 appearances for Arsenal’s Under-23s side, along with the 11 he made in League One while out on loan.

WHO IS THE PLAYER?

The Verdict: Exciting youthful addition

Wednesday’s side needs an injection of youth in it, with the same core of players coming towards the end of their cycle at the club in the last 12 months or so, and Bola fits the bill.

At 22, he should continue to improve as a player for a number of years and his pedigree speaks for itself, considering how long he has been in Arsenal’s academy and the fact he was once hailed as ‘amazing’ by a former coach.

Bola has shown that he can perform in League One, too, following his stint at Rochdale, so he looks an exciting option with a taste for the action at this level.

In other news, one Sheff Wed player is reportedly ‘not for sale’ this summer. Find out who it is here.
