Sheffield Wednesday correspondent Dom Howson has been reacting to an injury update on defender Ben Heneghan ahead of Saturday’s clash with Ipswich Town.

The Lowdown: Heneghan’s absence

The 28-year-old began the campaign as first choice under Darren Moore, playing every minute of action in the first four league fixtures.

However, Heneghan picked up a hamstring issue in an EFL Cup win over Rochdale last month and hasn’t featured since. Wednesday have coped relatively well without the centre-back, though, winning three of a possible four, but it looks as if they'll have Heneghan back relatively soon.

The Latest: Howson reacts to update

Moore revealed in the week that Heneghan ‘will join back in training with the group over the next couple of days’.

Howson took to Twitter on Thursday to relay the update, describing it as ‘some positive news’ ahead of the Ipswich clash.

The Verdict: Ideal

Wednesday have enjoyed a relatively strong start to the season, picking up 16 points from their first eight fixtures. You’d expect that they’ll need to continue their two-points-per-game average to stand a chance of automatic promotion, and having a fully fit squad will stand them in good stead.

Summer signing Heneghan appears to be in Moore’s strongest XI going off his early season selection, so hopefully, he’ll be back in the starting line up sooner rather than later.
