Sheffield Wednesday: Fans discuss Garry Monk's comments on Cameron Dawson and Joe Wildsmith - Sheffield Wednesday News

Recent comments by Sheffield Wednesday manager Garry Monk have got a lot of the fan base debating as he talks about two goalkeepers at the club.

The club have both Cameron Dawson and Joe Wildsmith battling for the number one spot, and speaking via the Examiner Live, Monk said: “They both can improve on everything; they’re [sic] soft skills and the distribution side of things. They know that and we have had good chats with them.”

Dawson has featured the most for the Owls this season, as he has made 24 appearances, but Monk hasn’t been afraid to change the man in between the sticks as Wildsmith has played seven times, via WhoScored.

question mark

How many career goals did David Hirst score for Wednesday?

Monk’s comments have seen fans debate over who is the better player, but the fact that he has identified how they can improve will hopefully see the two do what he says and continue to fight for their place.

If they do continue to fight, then it could bode well for the club for the future, given they are both relatively young with Dawson 25 and a year younger.

Many fans have been discussing the duo following Monk’s comments, with some split opinion. The majority seem to rate Wildsmith over Dawson, however one fan doesn’t think either is good enough, perhaps given the team has shipped 59 goals in the Championship (BBC Sport).
