Many Sheffield Wednesday were not happy with referee David Webb after he showed Josh Windass a red card during their Championship clash against Preston North End.

The Owls were down to 10 men midway through the first half after just 17 minutes as Windass appeared to strike Joe Rafferty in the chest with the studs of his boot.

Wednesday were rooted to the bottom of the Championship before this afternoon's proceedings and were of course desperately looking to turn their fortunes around after Tony Pulis took to the dugout for his first match in charge.

But Windass' first-half sending off did not help their cause, providing them with an uphill battle for the rest of the game, which they lost 1-0 courtesy of a Tom Barkhuizen goal.

Supporters were left fuming by the decision, with some saying that Rafferty was already on his way down before the two players came together.
