Sheffield Wednesday: Fans react to Dom Howson tweet about current squad

With the season coming to a close in the Championship, Sheffield Wednesday will need to have a big rebuild as they will want to finish higher than 16th next season.
It also looks like there will have to be a lot of incomings in the transfer window as journalist Dom Howson, who works for Yorkshire Live, tweeted out what the current Wednesday squad looks like after loaned in players have now returned to their parent clubs and out of contract players have left.
Many of the Owls fan base are expressing their concerns over how small the squad looks, and their worries are fair as they only have 23 senior players, with just one attacker.
This is especially worrying as their top three goal scorers this season, Steven Fletcher (13 goals), Jacob Murphy (nine goals) and Atdhe Nuhiu (six goals) are not at the club anymore. Their current top goalscorer who is still in the squad is Jordan Rhodes, but the 30 year-old only scored three goals this campaign, all of which came in one game, so this will be very worrying for supporters.
The club will need to be shrewd in the transfer market that is for sure, to make the necessary improvements to go again in 20/21. However, they could be restricted with an EFL charge still hanging over their heads for financial reasons.
Here is what fans said following the news:
Wednesday's squad as things stand:

M: Harris, Bannan, Luongo, Pelupessy, Hunt, Shaw, Reach, Brennan, Hughes, Grant, Waldock
A: Rhodes. #SWFC https://t.co/4khfiChLIA

5 of that midfield don’t have 5 games between them. 3 of the defence similarly inexperienced
And we have no movement financially due to FFP (with potentially another embargo to come on release of teh accounts in 7 days time)
Going to be an extremely interesting summer

The real problem here is that we’ve got 4-5 weeks to pull this off and we still have to convince people to join us when we can’t even guarantee that we’ll be playing in the championship next season.

Only positive I can see should Mr C show Monk the door. This is the perfect opportunity for the right Manager to rebuild at least he won’t be able to use the ole excuse I need my own player’s 🤷

Monk couldn’t manage the squad he inherited, where’s the evidence he could build and manage one. Time to put our trust, indeed our future, in someone with a proven track record

Hope they’ve got some more young lads coming through, we’re going to need them!!, can’t see us having the funds due to FFP to “splash the cash” especially for the amount of players that are needed. Plus who’d want to come at the moment……….

This is the biggest rebuild needed in the clubs history in my opinion. DC needs to be very strong now. I’d love to see N.Pearson back but I don’t get the impression he’d come unless he was 100% certain that he’d be back ie Coaches, Players, Money etc.

Threadbare. I hope we’re still looking to move a few of those on.
Could be a busy transfer window for once.
