It looks like Kieran Lee will be leaving Sheffield Wednesday as his current contract expires and as it stands no new deal has been offered. Journalist Dom Howson posted a tribute to the player on Twitter and many of the Owls fan base are reacting to the tweet.
Lee arrived on a free transfer from Oldham Athletic back in 2012, per Transfermarkt, and has gone on to make 217 appearances for the club as a defensive midfielder, scoring 22 goals and picking up 15 assists along the way.
He has clearly been a good signing, especially since Wednesday picked him up on a free transfer, but with him now 32, it seems best for both parties if he departs.
There is no doubt that he has been a great servant for the club, and he is definitely a player who will be remembered by supporters due to the great service he has put in whilst at the club. It is clear to see how much he is rated as some fans would like him to sign a new deal and remain at Hillsborough for longer.
Here is what fans had to say following Howson’s tweet:

One of the most under rated mids in the Chamoionship. Had a terrible run with injuries. Shame if a new deal can’t be agreed

Legend gets thrown about a lot, but Kieran definitely not far off, if not one. One of best players we have had in last 20 year easy. Also one of the most loyal and hardworking.

Give him a one year deal

There is a lot of experience walking out of the door this year and I for one think Lee should be kept on if he’s willing to accept reduced playing time. Absolute professional and I can’t remember a time he’s made a mistake.

Totally agree with you @trollers82!
Bring through young talent but need experienced players like Lee so young players can learn their trade!
Also need someone vocal as i think this is whats been missing since the departure of Hutchinson and Westwood’s injurys!
