Sheffield Wednesday defender Dominic Iorfa missed Tuesday’s win over Morecambe on Tuesday with a slight calf problem, Alex Miller reports.

The Lowdown: Another win

The Owls returned to winning ways at Hillsborough days after securing a point away at Ipswich Town. Barry Bannan opened the scoring in the first minute before a brace from Josh Windass sealed a 3-0 win.

Darren Moore’s side moved on to 65 points from 30 games, six clear of third-place Bolton Wanderers, however they were without Iorfa for the victory.

The Latest: Iorfa update

Wednesday reporter Miller took to Twitter on Wednesday morning, also sharing a story for The Star regarding Iorfa’s ‘surprise absence’.

He relayed comments from Moore, who said that the defender took a kick to the calf on the weekend and was left out as a precaution due to bruising and tightness.

The Verdict: Swift return?

Iorfa, hailed as ‘brilliant’ by Bannan back in 2019, has made 28 appearances in all competitions this season in a variety of positions ranging from centre-back to right midfield.

Therefore, knowing his injury doesn’t appear serious is a relief, as some may have been fearing the worst when he wasn’t involved on Tuesday.

Having a fully fit squad will only help Wednesday’s push for automatic promotion, and Iorfa appears to have made himself a regular in recent months when available, so he could be in line for a return on Saturday against MK Dons.
