Sheffield Wednesday: Elliot Anderson set to stay put at Newcastle

Sheffield Wednesday: Elliot Anderson set to stay put at Newcastle -Sheffield Wednesday News

Sheffield Wednesday and West Brom are set to miss out on the signing of Newcastle United youngster Elliot Anderson, following an update on his future.

The Lowdown: Anderson linked with Owls

The 19-year-old is considered one of the brightest young prospects at St James’ Park, scoring 16 goals in 32 appearances for the Magpies under-23s.

Anderson has been linked with a move to both Wednesday and the Baggies, as Darren Moore and Steve Bruce look to bolster their respective squads ahead of the new season.

However, it looks as though the pair will have to look elsewhere for reinforcements in the transfer window.

The Latest: Anderson staying put

Taking to Twitter, journalist Joe Crann revealed that Anderson will not be allowed to leave Newcastle, with Magpies manager Eddie Howe impressed with the youngster’s pre-season performances.

The Star reporter tweeted:

“Sounds like #SWFC – nor anyone else for that matter – will be signing Elliot Anderson on loan this summer… Howe says he’s got better and better in pre-season.”

WHO IS THE PLAYER?

The Verdict: Time to look elsewhere

Anderson would have been an ideal addition for Wednesday, bringing with him the fearlessness of youth and great versatility, being capable of excelling out wide and centrally.

With Newcastle looking set to keep hold of the teenager, though, the Owls and West Brom may look to line up a similar player to come in and take up a squad role in order to bolster their managers’ depth ahead of their respective promotion pushes.

Will Sheffield Wednesday earn promotion?

Yes, of course!

Yes, of course!

No, not good enough!

No, not good enough!

Both clubs have spent well this summer, though, with Wednesday signing the likes of Will Vaulks and Michael Smith and the Baggies bringing in John Swift and Jed Wallace, so there is no huge necessity to bring in an Anderson alternative.
