Sheffield Wednesday: Fans react as Dom Howson gives transfer update

Sheffield Wednesday are seeking to bolster their squad as they prepare for the 2020/21 Championship season, and journalist Dom Howson has provided an update on players whom the Owls are currently targeting.
Howson, who posted his transfer update on Twitter, said: “Josh Windass is high on their priority list, Alessio Da Cruz is on their striking shortlist and they are also after an attacking midfielder.”
Fans of the club will know Windass and Da Cruz well, as the former was a loan signing that they made in January, per Transfermarkt. He only made nine appearances but left a decent impression as he scored three goals and managed 1.7 shots per game, via WhoScored.
Meanwhile, Da Cruz was also a loan signing from earlier this year, but he didn’t leave as good an impression as he played 15 times and only managed two assists, per Transfermarkt.
It is a good sign, however, that the Owls are looking to add quite a few players, as they have a battle on their hands to stay in the division due to their impending 12-point deduction for next season.
Here is what these fans said following the update from Howson:
The current state of play with the #SWFC squad and where Garry Monk is keen to strengthen.

Windass I would have as an attacking midfielder where he played for Wigan wouldn’t be signing him as an out and out striker. But who we gonna attract. Gonna have to gamble on a few I reckon.

Because we ended the season so well with those 2 up front didnt we smh. If we want to overhaul that minus 12 points, we will need much better quality all over the pitch than we did last season. Only Murphy of the loans we had would be a good one to come back

Da Cruz has potential and would like to sign Windass but I’m getting worried now that we aren’t signing anyone. Seems too much pressure on the young lads.

This is a reflection on how poor of a club we have become…. just expect this type of dross to sign now

Aiming high. Maybe we should wait again till no one is available and just get the dregs
