Sheffield Wednesday will be keeping an eye on any last-minute deals today as they look to bolster their squad to help their relegation dogfight. Dom Howson has revealed that the club are interested in defender Tom Pearce.
The latest on Pearce
The journalist reported on Sunday night: “Understand SWFC are big admirers of Wigan left-back Tom Pearce. They could make a move for him before tomorrow’s 11pm deadline.”
Would this be a good move?
The 22 year-old has featured 26 times this seasons and the statistics show that he looks to be a solid defender – he has managed 1.4 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and three clearances a game this season (WhoScored).
Reports earlier in the month suggested that numerous rival sides have been interested in him this transfer window, emphasising that plenty of figures within the Championship feel he is good enough to excel in the division.
He also is quite young so has the potential to grow into an even better player, and with all this taken into account, Pearce would be a clever acquisition for the Owls.
In other news, Dom Howson provided a worrying injury update on an Owls defender. Have a read who it is here!
