It has been a very busy month for Sheffield Wednesday as they look to strengthen their squad for the 2020/21 campaign. The fact that they have already made three signings highlights that the club are intent on having a good season, despite their current 12 point deduction.
They are now reportedly in a two-way fight with fellow Championship side Birmingham to sign West Bromwich Albion player Jonathan Leko. The Telegraph report that both sides have had a £1 million bid accepted, and this news was tweeted out by journalist Dom Howson.
The 21 year-old winger has made 55 senior appearances for the Baggies, Bristol City, and Charlton, and has scored six goals whilst picking up seven assists, per Transfermarkt.
Fourteen of these appearances came in the Premier League for West Brom, but the fact he has been loaned out to Bristol City and Charlton as of late highlights that he is surplus to requirements at the Hawthorns and the Owls having a £1 million bid accepted should excite supporters of the club.
Despite the fact that he hasn’t managed a lot of goal contributions, the Owls definitely need some wingers as they currently only have three players in the squad who naturally play in that position, so Leko would bring some much-needed squad depth.
