It has been an interesting summer for Sheffield Wednesday so far as they have made some signings but also have a very daunting Championship season ahead of them as they received a 12-point deduction for the 2020/21 campaign.
For now, as Howson says in his article, Lees still believes he has a lot to give, but with just one year remaining on his contract and with the defender nearing 30, he might not be at Hillsborough for much longer.
This discussion from Howson has caused debate among some of the Owls’ fan base, but his statistics in the Championship last season were decent as he managed 1.2 tackles and 1.2 interceptions per game, via WhoScored. However, it will be intriguing to see how he responds to the blow of having the captaincy taken from him.
Here is what these Sheffield Wednesday fans said following the tweet from Howson:

Makes perfect sense so Monk can drop him easily…always harder to drop the captain…Borner, Iorfa and Dunk will be the 3 perm centre backs barring injury with Lees and Van Ack as back up

I’d take an offer for him if it was a decent one

No one will take him based on a couple of things:
1. His wages will be too high
2. No one wants a player who looks petrified on the ball

Must go. Conflict too. Agent is Monks dodgy mate.

Another one we should have moved on when Burnley were interested…. great defender when loovens was there never the same since unless something personal going on behind the scenes we don’t know about #swfc

So him, Bannan, Reach, Rhodes and Westwood can all walk for free in 10 months like Forestieri, Fox and Fletcher just have?
No wonder #swfc had to sell their stadium.
