Sheffield Wednesday have a big transfer window ahead as they plan for the 2020/21 Championship season.

As it stands their squad is quite small, as they only have 19 players (excluding loanees and out-of-contract players), and additions are therefore needed.

A transfer update from The Star's Alex Miller has elicited plenty of reaction from Owls fans after he tweeted: "Understand Sheffield Wednesday have made 'tentative initial enquiries' over the permanent transfer of Josh Windass from Wigan Athletic."

Those associated with the club will know 26 year-old Windass well, as he joined on loan for half a season in January, per Transfermarkt. He only made nine appearances but left a decent impression as he scored three goals and managed 1.7 shots per game, via WhoScored.

With Sheffield Wednesday starting the 2020/21 Championship season with a 12 point-deduction, any signing who has experience at this level will no doubt be appreciated.

With other interested parties circling, including Glasgow Rangers, his price could be pushed up. He is currently valued at £1.44m by Transfermarkt, which wouldn't be an astronomical sum for the Owls to pay.

Here is what these Sheffield Wednesday fans said following the update from Miller:
