# Sky Sports reporter all but rules out Tottenham of signing Conor Coady

**Sky Sports reporter [Michael Bridge](https://twitter.com/MichaelBridge_) has told [The Transfer Tavern](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/) that Tottenham are unlikely to sign Conor Coady this late in the window.**

Nuno Espirito Santo has been desperately trying to add centre-backs to his squad after last season’s defensive problems and has already signed Cristian Romero from Atalanta.

And whilst both Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez, two players on the [transfer](https://talksport.com/football/915144/) list, were on top form against Manchester on Sunday, the Tottenham boss is still hoping to bring in one more central defender before the deadline.

According to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-tottenham-have-opened-preliminary-talks-over-signing-coady-from-wolves/), Coady has been in preliminary talks over a move to north London and a reunion with Santo just months after the latter left Wolves, but Bridge simply can’t see a deal taking place.

Coady is Wolves’ captain and has been the heartbeat of their side since they were promoted back to the Premier League three years ago – missing just [one](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/conor-coady/leistungsdaten/spieler/128901/plus/0?saison=2020) game in that period.

He told **The Transfer Tavern**:

*“I’ve not heard that one. I’ve seen it written down, but I think it’s putting two and two together. To get the Wolves captain at the end of August, I can’t see it happening.”*
