Although Lookman was unable to help the Cottagers stave off [relegation](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57066317) to the Championship, he impressed in spells and it is understood the winger was on Palace’s list of [transfer targets](https://theathletic.co.uk/2706906/2021/07/14/crystal-palace-transfers-gallagher-lookman-and-rogers-interest-as-vieira-looks-to-freshen-squad/).

Patrick Vieira, who was [appointed](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/news/patrick-vieira-appointed-as-manager/2021-07-04/) as the Eagles’ new boss in June, has been looking to freshen up his squad with youthful talent and has brought in the likes of [Marc Guehi](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/marc-guehi-transfer-chelsea-crystal-palace-b1886233.html), [Michael Olise](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/announcement/palace-sign-reading-teen-michael-olise/2021-07-08/) and [Conor Gallagher](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/announcement/conor-gallagher-joins-palace-on-loan/2021-07-30/).

But Bridge has revealed Vieira was keen to welcome Lookman to Selhurst Park.
