Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has admitted that Will Smallbone, Moussa Djenepo and Mohammed Salisu will all missed the Saints’ match against Aston Villa.
Hasenhuttl provides triple injury blow
The south-coast outfit travel to Villa Park in a rich vein of form – they have won three and drawn one of their last four games in the Premier League.
However, the Austrian boss has revealed that Smallbone, Djenepo and Salisu are not yet ready to feature. He said:
“All three (Salisu, Djenepo, Smallbone) are all back in team sessions so far, not all back fit to play but all three are in a good way. This weekend is too early but they are in a good way.”
Under-strength but on form
Hasenhuttl will have no doubt wanted to have all three available for this game. Smallbone made nine appearances in the Premier League last term, providing two assists, whilst new signing Salisu is yet to appear for his new side. With one goal in his first four matches of the campaign, Djenepo could also have provided the creativity and vision needed to make things happen.
Will Southampton beat Aston Villa?
However, as previously stated, Southampton are currently full of confidence, and therefore, there is no reason why they will not be able to continue that form against the Villans. Hasenhuttl, though, will be hoping all three are back in the very near future as the games come thick and fast.
