Southampton: Saints fans laud Theo Walcott’s second debut performance

A number of Southampton fans have been heaping praise on Theo Walcott following his second half performance in their 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea.
Walcott was making his second debut for the Saints after re-joining the club on loan from Everton, and the winger had to endure a tough baptism of fire in the first half. The one time England regular was at times caught out of position down their right-hand side defensively, as Chelsea caused problems for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team.
However, the 31-year-old did manage to win four of his eight ground duels and make one tackle and one interception, as per Sofascore. That, though, was not enough to prevent Chelsea from taking the lead on multiple occasions and racing out to a two-goal lead inside 28 minutes through Timo Werner.
The winger helped Southampton get themselves back into the contest though, completing two out of his three dribbles and eventually proving heavily instrumental in the late equaliser.
Walcott fired in an effort towards goal in the 91st minute after Kurt Zouma headed away a free kick, with the ball eventually being turned in by Jannik Vestergaard to earn the Saints a deserved point for the effort and quality they produced.
Southampton fans discuss Walcott’s display:
Very good second debut for Walcott. He caused Chelsea all sorts of problems in the second half. I love how happy he was to get the assist. #saintsfc

Good game to watch, two poor defensive displays. That being said, fair play to Vestergaard. Really has turned a corner these last few games. Flashes of brilliance from Walcott. And so pleased for Ingsy and Adams to get on the score sheet.
Good point! #SaintsFC

Walcott will have more effective games, but driving forward he can still be a centre back's nightmare. Something we've pretty consistently lacked.
Welcome home, Theo. #saintsfc

Walcott got better as game went on. Got crosses over early and good direct running with the ball. #SaintsFC

Thought Walcott played very well on his return and is a nice option to have when Armstrong’s out – a problem that’s caused #SaintsFC problems for a while.
