Southampton: David Ornstein discusses interest in Danny Ings

In a recent article for The Athletic, David Ornstein discussed Manchester City’s interest in a summer swoop for Southampton centre-forward Danny Ings.
Since joining Southampton from Liverpool in what was originally a loan deal that the Saints made a £19.98 million permanent move in the summer of 2019, Ings has excelled in Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, scoring 40 goals and providing nine assists over his 86 appearances for the club.
However, the £18 million-rated 28-year-old’s future at the South Coast club was thrown into considerable doubt when The Telegraph reported that the England international is holding off on signing a new deal with Saints, as he feels he could make a move to a Champions League level club this summer.
And, according to Ornstein’s recent report for The Athletic, Man City could well be the Champions League side Ings has been waiting for, with the journalist claiming that Pep Guardiola’s summer options are ‘understood to include Danny Ings’.
Do you think Ings will join Man City?

Considering the fact that Guardiola has often been without both of his centre-forward options of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus due to injury so far this season, it is safe to assume that the Spaniard will indeed be making a move for an attacking addition to his side this summer, as Ornstein suggests.
And, with Ings having scored an impressive seven goals as well as providing three assists in the Premier League so far this term, in addition to the fact that the striker is reportedly keen on a move to a side higher up the table than Southampton, it would appear that all the pieces could well be falling into place for a move of the 28-year-old to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
